4 new County Football Team Leicestershire Champions in 19 goal thriller!

The last of the Team Leicestershire Football finals, hosted by Harborough Town FC commenced on the 10th May, all to play for between 8 teams, the age groups ranging from year 7 girls to under 19 boys.

All teams were having a go at each other which reflected in the scorelines, with large periods of raw attacking aggression witnessed amongst schools PE teachers and spectators, making it very enjoyable to watch.

It was clear there has been some pre-planning on the training ground prior to the game with some superb set-pieces executed during the finals. Gateway College in the U-19s Boys final produced a well-executed hard low free kick, looping round the wall and beyond the keepers reach into the bottom right corner.

Groby Community College in the Y10/11 girl's finals saw a last gasp goal right at the death of time with an inswing corner from the left, the poacher latching onto a loose ball on the half volley, out of the goalies reach.

A very entertaining series of finals to watch with very high intensity from both opposing teams.

The final scores of the Team Leicestershire Football finals are:

Y7 Girls

Market Bosworth School 1

Countesthorpe Leysland Community College 2

Y8/9 Girls

Brookvale Groby Learning Campus 5

The Priory Belvoir Academy 1

Y10/11 Girls

Ashby School 2

Brookvale Groby Learning Campus 4

U19 Boys

Brooke House College 0

Gateway College 4

Special thanks go to Harborough Town FC for providing the facilities and for the organisers to make such event of this calibre become a possibility.
